Student Life

Tuition Tuition is 267,900yen for a half-year and there is a tuition waiver system. After submitting an application, the applicant will be interviewed. The exemption rate is determined based on the result of the interview.
Scholarship

The holders of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine International Exchange Scholarship are required to sign on the form for confirming presence every month. Be sure to come to the International Office on the first school day of each month. If that is not possible, the student is required to come to the International Office for signing in person on the opening hours and days within that month.

Holders who are unable to sign on the form due to reasons such as temporary return to their home countries will not be awarded the scholarship for that month.

Recruitment will be notified to supervisors of international students.

Tutors

We offer a tutorial system for new foreign students during their first year to help them get accustomed to student life in Japan quickly and to enrich students' study and research.

Tutors are generally Japanese students and will give individual advice on problems related to language, academic issues, and daily life. (Guidance on and off campus, accompaniment to government offices, shopping, assistance in finding housing, etc.)

Japanese Language Course

Extracurricular courses (Notice) are held at Group Work Room 1 in Welfare Facilities from 9:00 to 11:00am on every Monday and Tuesday.

Schedule for 2024 Japanese Language Courses

We offer two courses under guidance of instructors:

1. Introductory Course for new foreign students (twice a week)

2. Intermediate Course (twice a week)

Learning Japanese is essential to life in Japan. Participation is free and we recommend taking courses on a regular basis.

Notification for Traveling abroad

If you are planning to travel outside Japan, you will be required to submit the following forms to the International Office:

[AFTER Traveling] "Return NotificationPDF" should be attached with a copy of the page with a re-entry stamp in your passport.

Student ID Card

You will be issued your ID card when you attend a guidance session at the university. The ID card is required to prove your identity. Be sure to always carry it with you as well as your residence card.

Academic Transcripts
JR Student Discount Certificate

Degree students can have a discount off the regular passenger fare while the traveling distance of one way is more than 100km.

Medical Examination Record

A medical examination record will be required when you apply for scholarships and employment. You can obtain this record at the Health Administration Center. Make sure you have had the student medical checkup or the report will not be issued.

Procedures to Stay in Japan

Changing Status of Residence

This is the procedure required when changing the status of residence, such as when a person who has been in Japan as a family visitor changes his/her status of residence to "Student" when enrolling in our university.

Visa Extension

This procedure is required for those who will stay in Japan with the same status of residence for a longer period of time than planned at the time of entry, such as those who have completed the doctoral course at the graduate school and become a continuing research student.

Non-Academic Activities(Part-time Work

This procedure is required for those who stay under the status of residence "College Student" to take a part-time job in Japan.

Special Re-Entry Permit

This is about the procedure when an eligible person re-enters the country within one year.

Permission to Acquire Status of Residence

This procedure is required when a child is born to obtain residency status for the child.

Bringing your family to Japan This procedure is required when you bring family members from your home country to live with you in Japan. Family members must obtain "Dependent" status of residence.
