Regional General Medicine Research and Development

Professor OHASHI Naro

OHASHI Naro Regional General Medicine Research and Development was established in April 2025 with the goal of resolving physician shortages and uneven distribution of doctors, primarily in eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture. This aims to ensure residents throughout Shizuoka Prefecture can receive appropriate medical care and build secure lives. The division will coordinate between the various departments of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, which dispatches physicians within Shizuoka Prefecture, the hospitals receiving these physicians, and the regional quota physicians who are recipients of medical education and training loans. Furthermore, as we enter the era of the 100-year lifespan and face a super-aged society, the division will also strive to cultivate hospital general practitioners capable of providing holistic medical care, treating illness not as isolated organ-specific treatment but as part of a patient's overall health.
