Our primary interest is focused on how animals recognize the world through their several sense organs. To investigate their own recognition world, we especially analyze their visual information system with a variety of techniques such as physiology, anatomy, ethology, biochemistry, genetics and physics/chemistry as well. Biomimetics is another significant assignment of our research. If we could know the subcellular size structures and functions of surface of specific animals, it would be practically applied to engineering for the innovation of new life-style.
