On Monday, October 26, representatives from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and the Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), both located in Maharashtra, India, visited Hamamatsu University School of Medicine.
This visit was arranged through an introduction by Ms. Yuriko Kato, President and CEO of M Square Lab Inc, and was conducted with the aim of exchanging views on the potential for student and academic exchanges.
On the day of the event, Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi, Vice-Chancellor of SPPU; Dr. Rajendra Vikhe Patil, President and Chancellor of PIMS; Dr. Sanjeev G. Kulkarni, Director of International Relations at PIMS; and Mr. Sameer Khale, President of the Association of Friends of Japan (AFJ), visited our university and held a meeting with university officials, including President Hiroshi Watanabe.
SPPU is one of India's leading comprehensive universities, conducting educational and research activities across a wide range of fields. PIMS, as a medical university offering programs in medicine, dentistry, nursing, public health, and other related fields, is actively engaged not only in education and research but also in community healthcare initiatives.
During the meeting, each of the three universities presented an overview of their institutions and their international exchange initiatives, and there was a lively exchange of views on the potential for student exchanges, short-term research stays, joint research, and academic collaboration. In addition, the event highlighted the distinctive research areas of the three institutions--such as AI-driven medical research and personalized medicine--and served as a meaningful opportunity to foster future international exchange.
Through exchanges with universities overseas, our university will continue to promote the internationalization of our educational and research activities, while supporting the international endeavors of our students and researchers.
