FD Lecture Held

Jun 12, 2026

On Wednesday, June 3, we held an FD lecture titled "Research Mentorship and Academic Career Development: Training Future Primary Care Researchers," featuring Professor Kenneth J. Mukamal from Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as the speaker. Due to a typhoon, the event was held online with a total of 42 participants, including faculty, staff, and students.
Professor Mukamal has made significant contributions to the advancement of primary care education in Japan as the program director of the "Hinohara Fellowship." This program accepts Japanese clinical supervisors at teaching hospitals and university faculty members who are both passionate about primary care education as fellows every other year, offering training in both research and education. This lecture was supported by Professor Yuko Takeda of Juntendo University Faculty of Medicine, Chair of the Hinohara Fellowship Selection Committee, who also provided a summary translation and explanations in Japanese.
During the lecture, Professor Mukamal presented the significance and methods of incorporating and integrating research elements into clinical education, illustrating his points with practical examples from a General Medicine Research Fellowship. He also highlighted the importance of structured research education and mentorship. The lecture provided a valuable opportunity to deepen participants' understanding of research mentorship and academic career development.
