Oct 02, 2025
From September 24 (Wed.) to September 26 (Fri.), 2025, the 22nd Kyungpook-Hamamatsu Joint Medical Symposium was held at Kyungpook National University School of Medicine (KNUSM) and College of Nursing (KNUCN) in Daegu, Korea. This symposium is organized annually on a rotating basis by the KNU side and Hamamatsu University School of Medicine (HUSM), which maintain an academic exchange agreement. This year, a total of 27 participants from HUSM took part.
On the first day, Wednesday, September 24, the welcoming reception was held, attended by Dean Lee Byungheon of KNUSM, Dean Park Wan-Ju of KNUCN, Vice President Lee Shi-Chul representing KNU, and many faculty members and other related parties. The event provided a joyful reunion after a year and an active opportunity for researchers from both universities to deepen their exchanges.
On Thursday, September 25, the medical symposium (Chilgok Campus) and nursing symposium (Daegu Campus) were held simultaneously. Researchers and students attentively attended presentations and engaged in active Q&A sessions and discussions. This symposium marked the first official visit to KNU by President Hiroshi Watanabe since assuming office, making it an especially meaningful occasion for HUSM. After the symposium, the farewell party was held in the historic city of Gyeongju, the capital of the Silla Dynasty, providing participants with a relaxed setting to further strengthen academic and personal connections.
On the final day, Friday, September 26, participants visited Bulguksa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, gaining valuable insights into Korea's rich history and culture. The event proved to be a highly rewarding experience for all participants.
While expressing the hope of reuniting in Hamamatsu next year, both universities reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing medicine and nursing science, and to promoting academic, research, and cultural exchanges even more actively.
