[50th Anniversary Commemorative Event] The 21st Kyungpook-Hamamatsu Joint Medical Symposium was held

Sep 19, 2024

From September 4th (Wed.) through 6th (Fri.), the 21st joint medical symposium between Kyungpook National University School of Medicine / College of Nursing ("KNU") and Hamamatsu University School of Medicine ("HUSM") was held. The joint symposium with KNU, one of our academic exchange partners, had been held yearly since 2001, where KNU and HUSM took turns as host institution. While this event had been suspended due to COVID-19, it was resumed last year and the event hosted by HUSM was held after six years since the last one.
On the first day September 4th (Wed.), a grand welcome reception was held at the Okura Act City Hotel Hamamatsu. From HUSM, President KONNO Hiroyuki, Chairman of HUSM International Exchange Association UNNO Naoki, and many other members participated to welcome thirty-two KNU members including Dean of School of Medicine LEE Byungheon, Dean of College of Nursing CHOI Eun Suk, other faculty members and students.
On the following day, September 5th (Thurs.), the joint medical symposium was held at the HUSM facilities, with a total of twenty-three oral presentations and twenty-eight poster presentations. A total of more than two hundred people attended the symposium, which provided an opportunity for active exchange of opinions and information. In addition, a lively exchange meeting was held between four medical students from KNU and six second-year medical students from HUSM, which deepened comradeship among the students.
On the last day, the KNU members were accompanied to Ryotanji Temple in Hamamatsu to experience traditional Japanese culture and enjoy sightseeing before heading home.
Both the universities will continue to cooperate with each other to promote academic and cultural exchange for the development of medical and nursing sciences.
