International students on fieldwork excursion to appreciate Japanese culture

Dec 04, 2023

On November 17th, an excursion was organized for our international students (28 postgraduate students and some of their family members) with 5 staff members to learn more about Japan.
The purpose of this excursion was to broaden the international students' understanding of Japanese culture, history, climate, industry, etc., and to deepen mutual understanding and friendship among international students and faculty members.
This year, in Gujo Hachiman, Gifu Prefecture, participants strolled around Gujo Hachiman Castle and traditional streets, experienced making food samples of local specialties, and were invited to a demonstration of Gujo Odori dance, which has a history of over 400 years and is registered as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Sharing the experience brought international students and faculty closer together. Participants commented that they were able to experience the beauty of Japanese culture and build better relationships with their fellow students and faculty members.
