The 20th Kyungpook-Hamamatsu Joint Medical Symposium was held

Sep 20, 2023

The 20th Kyungpook-Hamamatsu Joint Medical Symposium was held at Kyungpook National University School of Medicine (KNUSM) in Daegu, South Korea from September 11th (Mon.) to 13th (Wed.).
Based on the academic exchange agreement signed with Kyungpook National University School of Medicine and College of Nursing, this symposium has been held alternately in Daegu and Hamamatsu every year since 2001. Although the symposium was originally scheduled to be held at Hamamatsu in 2020, it had been postponed for some time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under these circumstances, Dean Tae-Hwan Kwon of KNUSM, suggested that we take this opportunity to resume the joint symposium as KNUSM celebrates its 100th anniversary, and we have decided to hold the 20th symposium at KNUSM for the first time in four years.
This time, President Hiroyuki Konno and 26 others of HUSM visited Daegu on Monday, September 11, and received a grand welcome at the reception party that evening. The party was also attended by President Won-hwa Hong of Kyungpook National University, and deepened exchanges between people involved in both universities, filling the three-year blank of exchange. On the next day, Tuesday the 12th, the symposium commenced with opening remarks by Dean Tae-Hwan Kwon of KNUSM and President Hiroyuki Konno of HUSM. Fifteen oral presentations and seventeen poster presentations were given, and there were lively exchanges of views and opinions. On Wednesday the 13th, participants also toured the museum on the Kyungpook National University headquarters campus.
The two universities will continue to cooperate to promote academic and cultural exchange and contribute to the development of medicine and nursing. Next year, a joint medical symposium will be held at HUSM, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
