After graduating from the UCSF School of Medicine, Dr. Kenneth J. Mukamal completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale University School of Medicine and began his career as a clinician-educator in the Department of General Practice at Beth Israel Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), a major teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard University. He subsequently devoted himself to epidemiological research, establishing a research infrastructure within the General Practice Department and launching a research program for residents in internal medicine.
In this lecture, Dr. Mukamal will discuss how he came to pursue a career in research after beginning work as a clinician at a teaching hospital, as well as his current research topics. In addition, he will introduce the research framework of the General Practice Research Fellowship he oversees and deliver a lecture on how to provide research guidance to residents and fellows.
