  1. Service Desk

    You can borrow and return books here and you can get reference services. If you have any questions, please ask here.

  2. Information Hub

    There are 11 PCs and coin copy machines. You can browse electronic materials and make use of databases.

  3. Collaboration Area

    There are movable desks and chairs. It can be used for group learning with a conversation.

    • Communication Space

      You can use it for lectures and meetings. You can make a reservation.

    • Relaxing Space

      There are sofas for rest.

    • AV Corner

      You can watch and listen audiovisual materials (DVD, BD, CD, SD card, etc.).

    a) Newly Arrived Books

    Newly arrived books are retained here for a certain period. Books from this corner are also available for checkout.

    b) Current Journals

    Current journals for one year are arranged. The latest issues are not available checkout.

    c) Syllabus Books

    There are class-related books designated as textbooks and supplementary materials in the syllabus.

    d) AV Materials(DVD, CD)

    Near the AV corner, there are AV materials related to Medicine and Nursing. In front of the speaking room, there are AV materials for language learning.

  4. Creation Hub
    • Discussion Room

      This room is for group study and discussion. You can make a reservation.

    • Conference Room

      This room is for conference and can also be used for online meetings. You can make a reservation.

    • Speaking Room

      This room can be used for watching AV materials, learning speech, online meetings and so on. You can make a reservation.

    • Studio

      This room can be used for shooting and editing videos such as creating digital teaching materials. This is a reservation-only room.

  1. Quiet Area

    It is an area for individual study in a quiet environment. Some of the reading seats can be reserved.

    e) Books(Medicine/Nursing)

    Medicine, Nursing, and related books in both Japanese and Western languages are arranged here by the US National Library of Medical Classification (NLMC) in the order of basic medical and clinical medical books. Use the signs labeling the shelves to help find a book.

    f) Paperbacks(Open Shelves)

    There are the paperbacks (Blue Bucks, Iwanami Gendai Bunko, and Kodansha's New Library of Knowledge) that are continuously purchased.

  2. Stacks

    g) Journals(English/Japanese)

    There are back number journals. Foreign journals are listed in alphabetical order by journal name. Japanese journals are listed in Japanese syllabary order.

    h) Books(Non-medical)

    Non-medicals books are arranged by the Nippon Decimal classification (NDC).

    i) White Paper /Statistics

    Official reports, statistics are available here. These are reference materials and therefore not available for checkout. Please use these materials within the library premises.

    j) Reference Books

    Encyclopedias, language dictionaries, and handbooks are grouped here into general reading and medical literature. These are reference materials and therefore not available for checkout. Please use these materials within the library premises.

    k) Dissertations

    There are Doctoral dissertations of HUSM.

    l) Paperbacks(Stacks)

    There are paperbacks other than continuously purchased. Yoshitoshi Library (1) and Ota Library (2) are included.

  3. Study Cubicles

    Private rooms for quiet personal learning. Reservations are required from 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays.

  1. Student Commons
    • Group Work Room

      These rooms are available for events and meetings. Group work room 1 can be reserved at the Service Desk.

  2. Shomonkai Hall

    This area can be used for various purposes such as studying and eating. If you make a reservation, you can use it for events.

    m) Newspapers

    We have the Shizuoka Shimbun, Chunichi Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, and Japan Times. Newspapers are for reading in the library.

1. Yoshitoshi Library:The collection of books relating to medical ethics and life ethics.
2. Ota Library:The collection of books focusing on the humanities and English studies.
